A police car stopped in front of my house, and I got out of my car and asked

A police car stopped in front of my house, and I got out of my car and asked, “Are you looking for me?” The officer said, “Yes.”

I immediately started panicking, thinking, “What did I do wrong? What’s going on?” But I walked over to the street and asked, “Yes, what is it?”

This was Officer Eric, a true angel sent by God to help me through the hardest time of my life. Officer Eric is with the Joliet Police Department, and he was one of the officers who responded when I found my husband Bo passed away on the couch.

At that moment, I was mentally beyond saving. As a wife and a nurse, I felt helpless because I didn’t realize Bo needed me to save him. As nurses, we do this kind of thing every day, but I failed him that time.

But then God sent Officer Eric. He could see I needed to know that Jesus was with me, so he took my hands and prayed with me.

Today, eight years later, he stopped just to check on me and see if I was okay. Who does that? A true man of God and a dedicated officer. Our police officers don’t always get good press, but I feel blessed and overwhelmed by this officer’s kindness and consideration.

We will always remember the times when people like Officer Eric stepped in, even when the situation was different, their impact stayed with us.

Officer Eric, I celebrate you and who you are. He told me it’s nice to see me smile again. Well, I was crying and smiling at the same time, but I’m blessed. God sends angels when we least expect them, but they always come right on time.

I ask all my prayer warriors to lift Officer Eric and all officers like him in prayer today.
