A police car stopped in front of my house

A police car stopped in front of my house. I got out of my car feeling nervous and asked, “Are you looking for me?” The officer said, “Yes.”

My heart raced. I panicked and thought, What did I do? What’s going on? But I walked over to the street and asked, “Yes, what is it?”

This is Officer Eric, one of God’s angels sent to help me through the worst time of my life. He’s with the Joliet Police Department and was one of the officers who came when I found my husband, Bo, had passed away on the couch.

At that time, I was beyond help mentally. As a wife and a nurse, I felt like I had failed Bo. Nurses are supposed to save lives every day, but I couldn’t save my husband when he needed me the most.

But God sent Officer Eric. He’s a man of faith, and he knew exactly what I needed at that moment—I needed to know that Jesus was with me. He took my hands and prayed with me.

Now, 8 years later, he stopped just to check on me. March 15th. Who does that? A man dedicated to his job, a man of God, and a member of the Joliet Police Department.

Police officers don’t always get good press, but I’m overwhelmed by Officer Eric’s kindness and care. These moments matter. Every encounter, every interaction, leaves a lasting impact on everyone involved.

Officer Eric, I celebrate you and the incredible person you are. You told me it’s nice to see me smile again. Well, it’s a mix of smiling and crying at the same time. I’m truly blessed. God sends angels when you least expect it, but they always show up right when you need them.

I ask everyone who prays to lift up Officer Eric and all the officers like him in prayer today. Thank you for being our angels on earth.
