A Simple Act of Kindness

My son Jasper and I were driving home from Vanderbilt when he said he wanted CiCi’s pizza. I found one in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, so we stopped to eat.

We were the first customers of the day. While eating, I noticed a worker sitting alone, having lunch. Later, I learned her name is Diana. She seemed to have some challenges, either mental or physical.

As we ate, I saw the young manager, Brandon, walk over to Diana’s table. He cleared her plate and cleaned up. Then, I saw something that truly touched my heart. Brandon came back with a napkin and gently wiped Diana’s face. She just smiled at him.

As a parent of a child with special needs, this small moment nearly brought me to tears. It showed me that kindness is still alive in the world. Brandon didn’t know I was watching, but I made sure to tell him how much his actions meant to me. He simply said, “I just try to treat people the way my grandparents taught me to.”

We often post online when we have bad customer service experiences, but we should share the good ones too.

So, if you’re ever in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, stop by CiCi’s and say hello to Brandon. Let him know the world needs more people like him.
