A True Act of Kindness

My husband and I were in the ER when we saw an elderly woman being wheeled out. She told the receptionist she had no family and no way to get home.

It was heartbreaking to see that some of the staff (not all) didn’t seem too concerned about how she would get home.

Then, something incredible happened.

A man who had been waiting with his wife walked up to her and said he would gladly take her home. He didn’t know her, had no idea where she lived, but still offered to help. When she tried to pay him, he kindly refused, just like any good person would.

As he went to get his truck, I wheeled her outside and helped her into the vehicle. Watching them drive away, I couldn’t help but think, there really are good people in this world and this is how we should care for our elders.

I learned a little about him from his wife. His name is Jeffery, and he serves in the military at Ft. Campbell, KY. Not only does he serve our country, but he also serves his community with kindness.

Jeffery, if you ever see this, please know that your good deed didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you for your service—to both our country and the people around you.
