Do Doctors and Nurses Feel Disgusted?

Of course, we do! But when you work in this field, you learn to handle it. Over time, we get used to things that might seem gross to others.

As a midwife, I want to share a story that many women will understand.

One of our jobs is to help mothers during labor. When pushing, many moms accidentally pass stool—this is completely normal because labor gives the same feeling as needing to go to the bathroom. As midwives, we don’t feel disgusted at all—in fact, when this happens, we feel relieved because it means the mom is pushing the right way! Instead of worrying about the mess, we focus on helping her safely deliver her baby.

So, if you ever need medical care and worry that doctors or nurses might feel disgusted, please don’t! We deal with blood, pus, poop, and so much more every single day. This is our job, and we are trained to handle it professionally. You are never a burden to us!
