Here’s a little reminder I have from after my divorce…
One day, I came home excited to share a little story with my husband at the time. I thought I had spotted a black widow spider.
Before I could even finish my sentence, he got really defensive, insisting I didn’t know what one looked like. Then, he aggressively grilled me about whether I knew any random facts about the spider. 🕷️
Trying to get my story out after that felt impossible. He was already yelling, all worked up about his knowledge and my supposed ignorance about black widows.
So, here’s what I wanted to say: “I thought I saw a black widow on my walk, but when I caught a glimpse of its underbelly, I realized it wasn’t one. It definitely gave me a jump scare… mainly because I walked right into a pole!” Since moving to Colorado, where I hike often, I’ve seen quite a few of them. 🙄
The argument over the spider ended with me packing my things and leaving. I realized if I couldn’t even have a normal chat about a spider, how could I live with this guy?
We were about to move into our first place together, and it was just two days before I was supposed to add my name to the lease.
I decided to file for divorce and got this cute tattoo right after as a reminder.
Since I’m not sure what a black widow looks like, I made her red, hence the inverted colors. ☺️
So, stay “dull,” protect your peace, and love your space! ❤️❤️🕷️👄🕷️
