How can anyone abandon a cat? This cat kept coming into my garden and I repeatedly shooed him away until I realised he needed water. While he was drinking I got a better look at him and he was clearly in bad shape no fur in many places and thin. I have never had a cat and I didn’t want one so I called the rescue centre and had him taken away. They called me a couple of days later to tell me all the information they had been able to find out about him via his chip and asking around. His owner died so her daughter took him in, then she died too. The remaining relatives denied there was a cat so he was left homeless. He eventually found me several miles away from where he lived before and he’d survived 6 months alone. It broke my heart to hear that so before she could carry on with the story I said bring him back her right away. After lots of trips to vets and a settling in period he now owns the house and I work for him. It was a steep learning curve for me to learn how to care for any animal but we have managed together. I still get emotional thinking about the day we met. I hope I can continue to make up for the cruelty of his old life.
