I drive a school bus, and I want to share a story about one of my sixth graders.

Last week, he told me about an elderly neighbor who hadn’t left her house for weeks.

I explained that it might be hard for her to do things on her own.

On Tuesday, when I pulled up to his stop, he wasn’t there waiting like usual. I looked over and saw him shoveling her porch.

I was early, so I waited.

The other kids asked why I was waiting. I told them, “Anyone helping someone deserves a few extra minutes.”

Right away, the kids got curious and started asking him questions about his neighbor.

The next day, seven kids got on the bus carrying blankets, food, and handmade cards for the elderly woman.

After work, I delivered everything to her.

Now, every morning, she stands on her porch, and the whole bus waves to her.

I’m so proud of this boy for stepping up and doing the right thing. He showed all the kids how simple kindness can make a big difference.

Every day, I smile with pride because of the amazing children on my bus. ❤️
