“I missed my first flight to LA yesterday and had to catch another one. I was really upset, but now I know why! When I finally got to baggage claim at LAX, I went to the bathroom to touch up my makeup, and I heard a woman crying really hard. I wasn’t sure if I should say something like, ‘It’s going to be okay,’ but I was nervous because she was speaking Spanish, and I wasn’t sure if she would understand me.
I left and came back to the bathroom a few times while waiting for my bags (it was a full flight), and I heard her say, ‘But the bus doesn’t come until tomorrow.’ My heart dropped, so I asked her if she had Zelle or CashApp. She said no. Then I offered to pay for a hotel room for her until tomorrow. She stopped crying, opened the stall door, and I saw her kids sleeping inside.
I felt so happy to help her, especially since I’d just been about to waste my money on something unimportant. She came with me to the Marriott, and I got her a room. I wanted to share this because I kept thinking, ‘HOW MANY PEOPLE CAME INTO THE BATHROOM, HEARD HER CRYING FOR HOURS, DIDN’T KNOW SHE HAD KIDS, AND JUST KEPT WALKING BY?’ I’m really glad I spoke up because she was so sweet and thankful, and she had babies with her.”
