Last night, my son Jordan came into my room and said, “Mom, let me tell you what happened today!”
He was at Walmart, getting ready to leave, when his car wouldn’t start—the battery was dead. So, he went back inside and bought some jumper cables.
A man in a white truck was parked next to him. Jordan asked if he could help jump-start the car. But the man said, “What you really need is a new battery.”
Jordan told him, “I can’t afford a new battery right now. I have a $400 insurance bill due today.”
The man noticed Jordan had the baby with him and asked if he was a single dad. Jordan explained, “No, her mom is at work.”
Then the man said, “Follow me to the auto department.” Jordan thought he was just going to help charge the battery.
But Walmart’s auto shop was too busy, so the man told Jordan to follow him to AutoZone instead.
When they got there, the man went inside and spoke to someone. Then he came back to Jordan’s car, shook his hand, and drove off.
A few minutes later, an AutoZone employee came outside—with a brand new battery in his hands! He installed it in Jordan’s car for free.
Jordan had tears in his eyes when he told me.
“Mom, I didn’t even get the man’s name!”
To the kind stranger in the white truck in North Augusta yesterday—thank you from the bottom of our hearts! ❤️
