So, on my way in to work at the ER

“So, on my way in to work at the ER, after a funeral visitation for a friend and coworker, my boyfriend and I decide to stop for something to eat at Carrabba’s on Tunnel Road in Asheville. He made the comment as we were walking in that he wasn’t exactly dressed for the place (still wearing his flight suit, representing his flight crew in honor of our friend, who was also a flight medic). After we place our order, the server, Amanda, comes over to tell us the manager was discounting our food since he was in uniform, even though we explained he wasn’t on duty. Through the course of our meal, we talked to her about the events of our week, the death of our friend, and the helicopter crash that my boyfriend had miraculously walked away from the day before. She seemed genuinely touched…..when we get ready to go, she brings us a to go box and tells us that our meal was taken care of, that they all appreciated what we do……we were so blown away, we asked if there was some way she could charge us for something so we could leave a tip on our card, and she brings us this…..the next time you want a great meal, from some great people!”
